Andy created a special and unique fine art oil painting of Battle Abbey in East Sussex as it appeared in the late fourteenth century for the Battle Festival of Arts & Music, an image that has never been seen before. Working alongside English Heritage and expertise of David & Barbara Martin, specialists in interpreting historic houses for over fifty years with the Institute of Archaeology and University College London (UCL). Andy also had historical expertise from Michelham Priory's fourteenth century living history bowmen as the characters in his painting. This fine art piece took over five months to produce, researching and drawing with hundreds of hours of painting to finish this historic masterpiece.
Andy was interviewed live on the BBC by Mark Carter discussing his ultra-fine detail techniques, before unveiling the final painting and applying the finishing touches in front of a very well attended live audience at the Battle arts festival. The Battle Abbey painting was sold to a private collector within minutes of unveiling with a special limited edition print on permanent display at the Battle Museum.
